Europe-wide action to put pressure on Kemira is imminent

Europe-wide action by Kemira’s employees, to put pressure on the chemical company, has come one step closer.
On Tuesday 16 September, it was the conclusion of the employees who represent the personnel at corporate-level mandatory joint consultation group. They announced the conclusion they had come to following the group’s meeting.
According to the shop stewards of the wage and salaried employees the employer has driven negotiations to stalemate. The shop stewards consider the redundancy payment, offered by the company, as still too low.
The offer put forward by the employer just clearly goes to show that the company does not appreciate its personnel, the shop stewards say.
At the corporate-level mandatory joint consultation group the parties try to agree on just treatment of the personnel in the event that jobs are cut.
A date for the next negotiation has yet to be fixed.
